Our Story
Vineyard Haven has long been a trusted stop for mariners traveling the busy waters between New York and Boston. Before the Cape Cod Canal opened in 1914, this harbor served as a natural refuge — a place to rest, make repairs, or wait out the weather. Over time, a small but vital community grew around that traffic, with sail lofts, shipbuilders, marine services, and local businesses supporting a steady flow of working vessels.
That maritime spirit still defines Vineyard Haven today. From wooden boatbuilding traditions to the graceful presence of the schooner Shenandoah, the harbor continues to attract those who value craftsmanship, community, and connection to the sea. At Vineyard Haven Marina, we’re proud to be a part of that legacy — offering modern amenities in a setting that honors the harbor’s history and welcomes all who arrive by water.
